I went on a marathon of watching ‘All American,’ the series. It is one interesting series full of learning.

Here are a few of the learning I picked up while watching it.

  1. Family support is essential in my personal and career. These are the guys who push you to reach your potential.
  2. Pay attention to those close to you to notice when they are going through shit, and be there for them when they hit rock bottom.
  3. Do not feel ashamed of your current situation. It is not permanent. Own it and work towards moving to greatness.
  4. You don’t have power over your past. What has happened is spilt milk. Do not sulk over it. Dust yourself and work towards a better today.
  5. Be very careful who you call your friend. They may either be your source of greatness or your biggest downfall.
  6. There are people you meet in life’s journey, and they become family.
  7. We all make mistakes, but we should not allow them to define our life. These mistakes should be your stepping stones to becoming someone better.

Are you so scared of losing that you cannot try?

It is hard to disappoint the people that you love and look up to you.

  1. Never feel guilty for accomplishing something great. You earned it.
  2. Life is too short to hold grudges. Let them converse and solve the differences with the respective people while they are still alive.
  3. You do not need any validation from anyone for your journey to greatness.
  4. Running from your fears, demons, and past will only hurt the wound. Could you stand up and face them? It is the only way to achieve healing. Allow yourself to go through that pain. By the end of it all, you will come out strong.
  5. Do not let your past insecurities come in between your present success.
  6. Remembering your roots but making bold steps to achieve your full potential is good.
  7. Have fun while you are doing what you love. Refrain from letting other people’s standards define your path.
  8. Talk to someone. Do not bottle up your issues. They will mess up your mental health.

Overall what stood out is that, as parents, do not let chasing that paper consume you to the point that you do not have a relationship with your children. A day will come when you want to play catch up, but they will be long gone.
